SQL: Diagrams

Part of Microsoft SQL Basics

sql SQL: Diagrams SQL: Documenting your relationships

With the basics covered from previous videos regarding joins, we can now move on to the more interesting areas of SQL server. As a gentle introduction into the intermediate level we shall start with the “Diagrams” facility.

What are SQL Diagrams?

Diagrams allow you to document tables which would also include their relationships. There are valid reasons to use this area.  But be warned there are also some dangerous & deadly options just below the surface which can really make a mess of your whole day if you’re not careful.  However, on the whole diagrams are pretty simple to set up and a powerful tool in your arsenal of documentation.  Not to mention if you inherit a database from another developer and you need to understand how the database ticks, diagrams should be one of the first places you go to.

This video will show you the pitfalls and benefits of diagrams in SQL.
