Analysis Services - Dimension Discretization

ssas1 Analysis Services Dimension Discretization SSAS Dimension Discretization

Okay, we have some rather fancy dimenions created but there is something other than hierarchies we can do with Dimensions espcially later when looking at Data Mining.

What is a Dimension Discretization?

Dimension Discretization is the ability to review a value and put them into groups. An example of this is salaries, if you are doing any form of grouing of data on money quite oftern you want to place them into buckets 10,000 – 20,0000 etc. Well this is exactly what Dimension Discretization is about, you control a particular Dimension Attribute and instruct it to display the value in a grouped fashion. This video will show you how it works and is an escential step for data mining later.

This video is one of many SSAS tutorials on this site click here for more.

I am a CPA with IT background, I found your video very helpful and clear, I
think the BI tool is the future of many perspectives of commercial
management, such as financial reporting and financial management. With
closely combining with accounting theoretical system, BI can potentially be
a extremely powerful business tool, not only a concept for IT specialists.
