Analysis Services - Prerequisite Guide | SSAS

ssas1 Analysis Services Prerequisite Guide SSAS Prerequisite Guide

Welcome to the start of a very exciting journey. You have chosen to discover how B.I. works from the Microsoft viewpoint. The following video describes what SSAS prerequisite material you need to have on hand to follow this course. Unlike other training videos on PCTeach.Me, this is the first series that follows one from another; meaning that it is meant (ideally) to be viewed as a whole.

If you have had any experience with Analysis Services (SSAS) in the past or general have a general awareness of its scope, you can appreciate that this is one topic that cannot be performed in small bite sizes chunks. Therefore, if you wish to follow along with me then you will need to ensure you watch this video to discover all the elements that will be required to be downloaded and installed.

What Will I Expect To Get Of Of This SSAS Course?

Compared to my other training videos this will be the most indepth I have created and hopefully give you clarity on the majority of the aspects of creating cubes and understanding of data mining from the viewpoint of Microsoft SSAS. This course will span theory, dimension modeling through to MDX.

This video is one of many SSAS tutorials on this site click here for more.

    Hi, Express edition will not give you the scope to cover all the elements being discussed on the tutorials. I suggest that you could download the evaluation copy of SQL which gives you 180 days to play. Alternativley and the reccomended approach is you purchase the developer edition of SQL R2. The developer edition is significantly cheeper than enterprise, you can pick up a copy for around £30/$50 (last time I checked).

    I’m hoping to follow your tutorials however I don’t know if the following will be up to the task ?:

    * MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express

    * MS Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate

    Seems there is an issue with BIDS between the two products. Can you suggest anything ?

    Thanks.

    Hi, Thanks! There are a total of 11 new videos coming your way over the next few days. This will not complete the series but give you plenty to chew on whilst I complete the remainder of the vids.
